The basics
What is a space?
A space is a collection of posts with its own audience and settings. You can think of spaces as individual blogs under the same author account. You control who has access to each one.
What are members?
Members are the people you invite to see your posts. You control which spaces they are allowed to see.
Do members have to pay?
No. Members can view, comment, react and get notifications for free. Only authors need a subscription.
How many spaces can I have?
Up to 5. If you need more, please let us know about your use case at support@among.blog.
Inviting people
How do I invite someone?
Go to Members → Invite a member to create a member link, then send it however you like: Messages, WhatsApp, Instagram or anything else. Or enter their email address and we'll send it for you.
Can I send the same link to more than one person?
You can, but it’s usually better not to. Each link can be claimed by only one person: whoever first signs up or signs in while viewing it. Claiming is what lets someone comment, react and get notifications, so everyone else on that link can only view. Send each person their own link and they all get the full experience.
Do members have to sign in?
Not to view posts, unless you require it for that space (Space Settings → Sign-in → Only signed-in members). Signing in is always required to comment, react or get notifications.
Managing members
How secure are member links?
Member links work like the "anyone with the link" sharing option in services such as Google Docs or Dropbox: each link is long and unguessable, so only people who have it can open your space. Like any shareable link, it can be passed along, so ask members to keep theirs private. If a link is ever shared by mistake, you can reset it or remove that member at any time. For extra protection, you can require members to sign in.
How do I remove a member?
You have two options:
- Revoke a member to end their access to your spaces right away. Their comments and reactions stay on your posts.
- Delete a member to permanently end their access and remove every comment and reaction they've left. You can't undo this.
Using Among
Can I use one account to post and to follow other people's spaces?
Yes. Your spaces appear under "Your spaces" in the menu, and spaces others share with you appear under "Shared with you."
Is there an iPhone or Android app?
Not yet, but you can add Among to your home screen and it will work like an app:
- iPhone or iPad: open app.among.blog in Safari, tap Share, then Add to Home Screen.
- Android: open app.among.blog in Chrome, tap ⋮, then Add to Home screen.
